McClure Named National Blue Ribbon School!

Earlier today, U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan's office recognized McClure Junior High School as one of only 304 schools across the country to receive the prestigious 2010 National Blue Ribbon School Award!

The Illinois State Board of Education nominated McClure as one of twenty schools from our State to be considered by the Department of Education for what is considered to be the highest award given to a school for sustained excellence in student performance and/or improvement over time. In receiving this award, it is important to know:

* McClure is one of 304 public/private schools named in 2010, out of 132,000 public/private schools across the U.S.

* 420 schools were nominated by their States for this award. The 304 schools named represents 72.4% of those nominated.

* Illinois had 19 schools recognized for this award; 9 were middle schools.

* There were 84 middle schools recognized from across the country.

Principal Dan Chick and a teacher representative from McClure will be recognized at a ceremony presided by Secretary Duncan in Washington, DC on November 15 and 16.
