Welcome To John Laidlaw Elementary

laidlaw3

On behalf of the Laidlaw school community, I am so excited to welcome you to Laidlaw Elementary School! This truly is an exciting place to learn. Across the district, we are highly focused on three areas: Academic Achievement, Academic Growth, and Learning Environment.  Within these areas, we have specific goals and measures to ensure that all students at Laidlaw are meeting and exceeding our targets.

Our School Vision:

To provide a safe and supportive environment where learning is fostered

We have been focused over the past two years on fostering students who own their learning. This vision can only be achieved through a collaborative relationship between the staff, students, families, and broader community of Laidlaw.  I look forward to working with all of you as I continue in my third year as the leader of Laidlaw.  My goal continues to be to know every single student by name. Some of our students even try to quiz me on their middle names!

We continue to incorporate new ways of communicating with our students and parents. Check out our Twitter- #Laidlaw101. I will be working with students each week to establish as Weekly Update via YouTube so check it out. We are also looking at different ways to bring enthusiasm and excitement to learning. This year we have a school-wide focus on curiosity so please help us encourage this not only in school but beyond.

Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher, our support staff, the main office or me whenever you have a question or concern. Our primary means of communication will be email so please make sure that we have your most up-to-date email address as well.

In addition to the fabulous staff here, Laidlaw has a phenomenal PTO that is comprised of parents who are dedicated to supporting the learning and environment here. PTO meetings are held quarterly and all are invited to attend. Please look for PTO updates sent via email each week as well.

I am looking forward to another fabulous year! They just keep getting better and better we have our amazing school community to thank.

Sincerely,

Erin DeBartolo, Principal

Laidlaw Elementary School
